Hello and welcome to American Sign Language at Lake Travis High School. I am Lois Witherspoon Wright, aka Ms. Dubb. Here's a little about me... I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Woman's University with a B.S. in Deaf Education where I also completed graduate work in Deaf Studies. I graduated with 3 teaching certificates: all level deaf education, elementary deaf education and regular elementary education. Shortly after, I completed my Montessori certification and taught parttime for 3 years at a local Montessori school enabling me to spend more time with my 2 young children. After they both entered school, I accepted a teaching position in the middle school department of The Texas School for the Deaf. I taught theatre, history, science, reading/language, and health for more than 10 years. At that time, ready for a change, I chose to work with hearing students once again. With my ASL knowledge, it seemed a logical transition to share this beautiful language with hearing people. I quickly completed my 4th teaching certificate for ASL and happily began my new teaching career as a proud Lake Travis High School Cavalier. This is my 12th year and I hope to make it many more! I have been married to the same crazy guy for 29 years (must be okay to put up with me.....) and have 2 of the most delightful "grown up" children a gal could ask for. And recently, my first grandchildren, Jaylee and Darian, have been added to the brood, officially making me "G-dubb" now! I am blessed to have an awesome career with the support of an incredible family! |
