6th (A-L) and 7th grade counselor
Sonja Ferguson is the 6th (A-L) and 7th grade counselor at Hudson Bend Middle School. Being the campus assessment coordinator, the Career Day coordinator, and Olweus Bullying Prevention Program co-chair are among her various responsibilities.
Sonja grew up in Southern California and graduated from University High School in Irvine, CA. She attended California State University-Fullerton (Go Titan Baseball!), where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology. She then began her journey into education by earning her certifications and Master’s degrees in both cross-cultural teaching and educational counseling from National University.
This will be Sonja’s 9th year in education. She began her teaching career as a middle school English and History teacher and then transitioned into counseling at the middle school level. For the past two years, Sonja has been an advisor and hourly counselor at Austin Community College. This will be Mrs. Ferguson’s first year at Hudson Bend Middle School.
In her spare time, Sonja is interested in spending time outdoors, going to comedy clubs, “road tripping”, cooking (and eating), and spending time with her husband, Rob, and two neurotic rescue “kiddos” - Bob (meow!) and Olivia (woof!).
