Vertical Teams and Committees

Every teacher on our campus participates on a Core Subject Vertical Team.  These teams are designed to ensure that the curriculum is aligned and to give a forum for teachers to come together and discuss curriculum needs. It is important that as a campus we have a sound curriculum that is aligned vertically to assist all students in their educational development.  It is through these teams that we also make campus wide decisions about core subjects.  These teams have developed vocabulary lists, core subject expectations and have planned and implemented Curriculum Nights.  These teams play a critical role on our campus.

Each teacher is also required to be on a committee. Our committees support the work that we do on our campus. They are not instructional, but are other supporting pieces that require people to work together in order to support the campus.  Our committees are: Hospitality, Safety, Parent Participation, Gifted and Talented, Technology, Counseling and Climate.  Coming together on a regular basis allows us to have a structure for this work.

Thursdays are meeting days. One Thursday a month is dedicated to team leaders meeting, one is dedicated to Vertical Team, one is dedicated to Staff meetings and then the fourth one of the month is dedicated to Committees.  We rarely have staff meeting because we have so many sound structures in place that allow for us to transfer information in smaller more meaningful groups and we learn together in smaller more meaningful learning structures as well.  Thursdays are a day that we reserve for meetings and as a campus; we do not schedule other things on these days.  These structures are valued structures on our campus.
