LPE School NurseI am originally from upstate New York where the Catskills meets the Hudson River. My dad was an IBMer and my mom was a nurse - I followed in her footsteps. I went to college in the Albany area and ventured to New York City for employment and to gain experience. I was learning a great deal in NYC but I read that Texas was in desperate need of nurses and paying for them to come down. Off to the land of cowboys I went. I fell in love with Austin right away, but never saw a cowboy. My first job was with Seton Medical Center as a floor nurse but I really liked the excitement of the Emergency Room and I soon switched to that area.

In 1987 I was asked by the Office of Attorney General to come to work for them to work on litigation that involved medical issues. I became a paralegal and worked on many different types of litigation. In 1999 I retired from the State, became restless and started my own medical legal consulting firm. I was very busy with 3 nurses working for me when I realized I missed patient care so I began subbing in the LTISD schools as a school nurse. My best days were the days I could sub and care for “patients”. I decided if there was ever an opening I would apply, I wasn’t very good at retirement anyway!

In 2007 I was lucky enough to fill an opening at my favorite school, Lake Pointe Elementary. I feel the Nurses’ Office should be a safe haven for all the students. I want the students to feel comfortable and at ease when they come to see me. Along with my years of emergency medical experience I try to provide caring and laughter as important healing agents. I love the environment at Lake Pointe is more like a family and we all work together for the students’ health and education.
Away from school I have many hobbies. I love being outside; hiking, fly fishing and gardening. I also enjoy quilting and reading. Please always feel free to call me with any questions or concerns:
