From its humble beginnings in 1981 as a single, permanent schoolhouse with two portable buildings that were home to approximately 500 students, to a dynamic institution of more than 7,000 students that earned its second consecutive Exemplary rating in 2011, the Lake Travis Independent School District has come a long way to becoming the destination district in Central Texas.
Originally a component of the Dripping Springs Independent School District, the 2011-2012 school year marks the 30th anniversary of LTISD’s establishment. In recognition of this milestone, the LTISD administration—assisted by a planning committee consisting of former and current students, teachers and administrators—hosted a series of community events during the fall of 2011 that served to commemorate our District’s long-standing tradition of excellence.
“Our objective was to create overall awareness of the District’s rich history within the LT community,” said Susan Bohn, LTISD Interim Superintendent and General Counsel. “Our celebration was a huge success. We hope to carry that energy and momentum forward as we continue to build upon the unique heritage and tradition that is LTISD.”
